Natural rubber adhesive is a kind of adhesive whose main component is natural rubber, usually dispersed in a solvent. It is used for applying labels to rough or curved surfaces.
Unlike other synthetic rubber based adhesives, natural rubber adhesive is not very resistant to sunlight and oxygen. Natural rubber is made up of long chains of polymers. When mixed with resins which make it sticky, it creates an incredibly flexible adhesive. It remains flexible even at low temperatures, when other substances solidify and become more fragile.
However, the natural rubber adhesive also has a number of disadvantages. It has a limited adhesion and cohesion value when temperatures exceed 70 ° C, it needs stabilizers that allows it to withstand aging and it's vulnerable to UV rays, solvents and some chemical substances.
