Vertical Lift Module (Automated Storage System)

A vertical lift module (VLM) is an automated storage system designed to maximize vertical space utilization and improve warehouse efficiency. It consists of an enclosed structure with drawers, trays, or shelves that move vertically via a motorized mechanism controlled by software, automatically bringing the requested goods to an access point at the operator’s working height.

This technology is based on the “goods-to-person” principle, reducing travel time and the risk of errors, while ensuring secure storage conditions for sensitive or high-value materials. A VLM is often integrated with management systems (ERP, WMS) to enable real-time traceability, automated stock control, and optimization of picking and replenishment tasks.

Thanks to its design, it makes full use of vertical space while minimizing floor footprint, making it particularly suitable in environments where high storage density and quick access to goods are critical factors.
