Liner

The backing paper or film used in self-adhesive materials. It is the layer carrying the adhesive, which is removed when the label or product is applied. A liner must provide mechanical strength during printing and die-cutting, as well as controlled release of the adhesive. The most common liners are glassine paper (semi-transparent calendered paper) or plastic films (PET or PP) for high-speed or specialized applications.
